ABOUT ME
Lucy Smith
I am Lucy Smith and from a young age I have always been motivated by art around me. Growing up in a creative family, this environment helped me progress into a scholarly pursuit of textile design. I found this passion flourished within the specialism of print. Using my illustration and painting skills, I developed within computer aided design which has since become my strongest skill.
I find myself being very adaptive to a brief. I love the challenge of changing my design approaches depending on a demand. Because of this, my work varies from interiors to fashion with bright and floral to blunt and dark aesthetics making my style fluid however always illustrative.
Work experience within menswear textiles solidified my career ambitions within the design industry. Ideally, I would like to work in a textile studio and eventually work for myself however, any part of the art and design industry interests me and therefore I would be willing to experiment with different departments.
Education
2021-2024
Nottingham Trent university
I studied BA textile design at Nottingham Trent university. This degree has taught me many skills from team working, collection building, computer aided design, industry practice and so much more.
Within my degree I felt myself getting involved in many activities that have benefitted me. The two main factors would be my placement in industry with NEXT and my participation doing the graphic design within the showcase committee 2024. Although I specialised in the graphic design for the showcase it also involved building my organization and time management skills.
